In Summer 2026, book club members read Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder tells the story of Dr. Paul Farmer and his mission to bring high‑quality care to communities facing deep poverty. Kidder follows Farmer’s work across the globe and shows how compassion, persistence, and justice can reshape public health. It is an inspiring look at what committed service can achieve.

For our Spring 2026 book, the book club read American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America. Colin Woodard, the author, posits that North America is made up of eleven distinct regional cultures, each with its own history and values.

This book supported the groups perspectives on cultural differences in United States regions and how they shape local attitudes toward healthcare and community well-being today. Members also discussed why different areas of the country approach public health so differently and how culture impacts that process.
